Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has sworn in two new commissioners and approved a cabinet reshuffle affecting six members of the State Executive Council.
The governor announced the appointments and redeployments on Monday via his Facebook handle, saying the changes were aimed at strengthening his administration’s capacity to deliver on its “People First” agenda.
The newly inaugurated commissioners are Ayuk Obi Afor, who will oversee the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Dodeye Ikpi Arikpo, who was appointed Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations.
Otu said the appointments were intended to reinforce his administration’s commitment to improving governance and accelerating development across the state.
“In the same vein, I approved a strategic reshuffle of some portfolios to enhance efficiency, optimise performance and deepen service delivery across key sectors,” the governor stated.
As part of the reshuffle, Anom Emmanuel Moses was moved from the Ministry of Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development to the Ministry of Human Capital Development.
Ekpang Erasmus Ekpang was redeployed from the Ministry of Information and Orientation to the Ministry of Lands, while Cobham Ekpenyong Ene moved from the Ministry of Transport to the Ministry of Information and Orientation
Mensah Bassey Offiong was reassigned from the Ministry of Water Resources to the Ministry of Environment, Kingsley N. Egumi was moved from the Ministry of Human Capital Development to the Ministry of Transport, while Ekpenyong Francis Edet was redeployed from the Ministry of Lands to the Ministry of Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development.
According to the governor, the redeployments were designed to align the experience and expertise of cabinet members with the priorities of his administration.
“These adjustments are aimed at aligning experience and expertise with the priorities of government as we continue to accelerate development across all sectors of our dear state,” Otu said.
He congratulated the newly sworn-in commissioners and those assigned to new portfolios, urging members of the executive council to remain committed to effective service delivery.
“I urge every member of the State Executive Council to remain focused, innovative and committed to delivering tangible results for the people of Cross River State.
“Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more prosperous Cross River where every citizen benefits from the dividends of good governance,” the governor added.
