Authorities in Libya have detained a group of Argentina supporters following post-match altercations in the city of Ajdabiya after celebrations over Argentina’s progress at the ongoing FIFA World Cup turned violent.
According to reports by Libyan Observer on Thursday, the supporters had taken to the streets to celebrate Argentina’s qualification for the next stage of the tournament and Egypt’s elimination from the competition.

Security operatives reportedly intervened to disperse the crowds, citing disruption to traffic flow and breaches of public order.

In a move that has sparked controversy, police allegedly shaved the heads of some of the detained supporters following their arrest.
Authorities said the action was taken in response to the group’s alleged involvement in public disturbances and what officials described as provocative displays directed at Egyptian supporters.
