Nigerian Army hands over 20 ‘Yahoo Boys’ to EFCC

The Nigerian military has turned over 20 suspected internet fraudsters to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Officers of the 12 Field Engineering Regiment of the Nigerian Army in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, handed over the fraudsters to the Ibadan Zonal Command of the EFCC. A statement signed by EFCC media and publicity manager Wilson Uwujaren said the suspects were arrested during an army raid in Ijagun, Odogbolu region in the Ogun State.

The suspects are Azeez Hameed Busayo, Olubor Chuks Winner, Amusa Abdulhakeem, Osoko Adesola David, Diyaolu Daniel Damilola, Olunlade Quadri Olamilekan, Amaje Kelly Armstrong, Akorede Olaleye Tope, Owonifari Niyi Sanwiyu.

The others are Ganiyu Olamide Sodiq, Onasanya Taiwo Adeniyi, Ajayi Muhaymin Adesola, Asenuga Ridwan Ayotomiwa, Bamgboye Tobiloba Quadri, Ayede Opeyemi Oluwaseun, Oseni Abolore Ismail, Olaniyan Mayowa Emmanuel, Akanni Qudus Sunday Olbioaleye and Sunday.

Items recovered from the suspects include eleven vehicles, 29 phones and suspected hard drugs. The recovered vehicles are in the custody of the army.

Nineteen of the twenty suspects arrested have been charged during the investigation.In the words of the EFCC spokesperson, “the suspects will be brought to justice as soon as the investigation is completed”.
