The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has urged his people at home and in the diaspora to be united wherever they may be sojourning.
Abubakar said this on Sunday in Bida during the turbaning ceremony of Wazirin Yaki Nupe, on retired AVM Mohammed Haruna and Dangata Nupe on Alhaji Musa Ladan.
He urged his people to co-exist peacefully with their neighbours, saying that such act would attract progress to Nupe kingdom.
The Royal Father, who is also the Chairman of Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, urged Nupe people to do everything possible to reposition Nupe kingdom on the path of progress.
“I passionately appeal to wealthy sons of the emirate, especially those in the diaspora, to return home and establish industries to boost development in the emirate.
“This will facilitate the socio-economic development of the emirate and the nation at large,” he said.
He noted that investing and establishing industries would help to reduce the rising unemployment rate and reduce poverty in the country.
Abubakar restated that traditional institutions would always honour those who contributed to the development of the Kingdom, the state, country and humanity.
“Those that are given traditional titles are people of proven integrity, who show concern to the development and socio-economic well being of the emirate,” he said.
He said the honour was to encourage both low and high to live exemplary lives for the general good of the country.
The traditional ruler commended his subjects for living in harmony with one another, adding that peace was a necessity for development.
Responding, Ladan, who is the Director of Administration at Federal Medical Centre, Bida, promised not to fail Etsu Nupe, Bida Emirate and Niger State in the discharge of his duties.
The recipients commended the Etsu Nupe for bestowing the honour on them saying that they would do everything possible for the development of the Nupe kingdom, Niger and Nigeria. (NAN)
