Eid-el Kabir: Kogi Gov. preaches love, peaceful coexistence

Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi has urged the people of the state, Muslim Ummah and Nigerians in general to continue to embrace peaceful coexistence, love and kindness.

Bello stated this in his Eid-el-Kabir message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed, on Monday.

According to him, the lessons of sacrifice, patience and faith demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim in the course of his earthly journey should be imbibed by Muslim faithful and other brethren.

The governor also said that good gestures and acts of kindness should be extended to the less-privileged in the society, as an extension of Allah’s love and benevolence toward humanity.

He further stated that the act of kindness and benevolence should not be restricted only to the festive period but at all times.

He said that his administration would continue to ensure a safe and secure environment, where everyone would be able to celebrate such a season to the fullest, even as he urged citizens to conduct themselves peacefully in the cause of the celebrations.

“Kogi has enjoyed a more robust integration between religion and ethnic differences and such could be replicated across the nation, if citizens see themselves first as Nigerians before any other disparity.

“In periods like this, faithful should offer prayers for the peace of our dear nation and also for leadership across all levels, as such will be very effective.

“My government remains committed to delivering a state which will be on the path of progress and development,” Bello stated. (NAN)
