Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has tested negative to the dreaded Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, said in a response to media query on Wednesday.

Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola said at a news conference  that he and his wife tested negative to the dreaded virus.

The vice president’s spokesman, in a message posted on State House Correspondents’ WhatsApp platform, said:  “Good morning sirs and ma: I have been inundated with calls on whether indeed the VP had undergone a COVI-19 test and the outcome. Yes, he has and results negative. An official tweet would follow.”

Akande had revealed in a tweet on Tuesday that Prof Osinbajo had gone on self-isolation, in observance of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control’s (NCDC) protocol.

In his message following the NCDC confirmation of a COVID-19 case in Osun State, Oyetola said he and his wife had subjected themselves to coronavirus test and that the results were negative.

Oyetola said: “Considering the fact that I was in Abuja for the better part of last week, as a way of leading by example, I have also subjected myself to test. My wife, because of her recent travel history also subjected herself to test. Both came back negative.”
